Running Injuries
Michael is a 40 year old avid marathoner who has completed more than 35 marathons, all under 3:15. Following a bout of plantar fasciitis, he wondered if he would ever do another (without orthotics, injections or surgery, he did, running a PR of 3:01).
Molly is 27 years old and had a hamstring injury that left her quite sore during tempo runs. Following an intensive round of physical therapy, she now looks forward to her weekly speed training sessions; oh, and she finished the Chicago Marathon in under 3 hours.
Running . . . one of the most enjoyable-and addictive-sports there is.
Jonah was active in all sorts of sports growing up . . . soccer, football, wrestling, boxing. But as he got into his thirties, wanted a new challenge. Unfortunately, he did too much too soon and developed knee pain. Having Jonah perform exercises to improve his running technique and control of his legs, he finished his first 10K last fall and is looking forward to his next.
Allison is a 35 year old mother of five who loves running. She worked with us for two months and finished 2nd (out of 5000) in her local Half Marathon.
Does any of that sound like you?
Are you targeting a first marathon? Half marathon? Or do you want to qualify for Boston (and beyond)? But have an injury that’s holding you back?
As cool as running is, it involves overcoming a number of hurdles—both physical and mental—and following an intricate formula of proper training, nutrition, strength and endurance.
Let’s say you’re lucky enough to have all that down . . . what about the injury part? Have knee pain that won’t leave? Foot pain? Shin splints? Able to handle the burn and muscle fatigue of the last few miles?
Our internationally-known rehab staff has over 20 years of experience working with thousands of athletes of all ages and abilities and we have seen countless approaches in the quest for running success—most of which are not effective because they are too aggressive at the wrong time or not customized to the specific person.
Practice . . . Plan . . . Prepare
Whether you are training to qualify for Boston, out to set a new PR, transitioning from another distance like the half marathon, or just looking to finish, you will benefit from our coaching services. By following the 3 P’s of training—PRACTICE, PLAN, and PREPARE—nearly anything is possible.
“I don’t need a physical therapist!”
Think you don’t need a physical therapist? Too expensive? Not necessary? Think you can just “run through” it? We suggest that without proper direction, the expense of an injury coupled with missed workouts will cost you more in the end.
Take a look at our innovative endurance lab page and sign up for a program or complete the form below so we can help you make it to Boston, set that PR, or finish your first marathon.
